Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, born March 26, 1991, and professionally referred to as Ari Lennox, hails from Washington, D.C. and is the first female artist to be signed to J. Cole's Dreamville Records label. On October 21, 2016 she debuted Pho, her debut EP for the label Dreamville Records. That was the day she began to gain the attention of her peers. Her first album Shea Butter Baby was released on May 7 2019. Ari Lennox began uploading her tracks online in the year 2012 when she launched her first mixtape Five Finger Discount, and her debut EP Ariography in 2013. The singer continued uploading her music online in 2014, including the independently-released single Bound. She appeared in Omen's Elephant Eyes and on Sweat It Out on the 21st of July the 21st of July, 2015. J. Cole had her sing her songs in the direction of his Dreamville Team later that year, as he wanted Rihanna to be able work alongside her on some of the songs. On December 8 it was revealed that she had signed to Dreamville Records. Backseat, a track she performed together with Cozz on The Revenge of the Dreamers II collaborative album. On October 21 2016 the artist released her debut album entitled Pho. Ari Lennox later appeared on J. Cole's hit song Change and was an opener on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour in 2017. In 2018, she was able to appear on two tracks with her label-mates EarthGang and EarthGang on Nothing but the Best and Bas on Icarus. On July 16 2018 Ari Lennox released the first single Whipped Cream from her debut album Shea Butter Baby with an accompanied music video on September 5. On November 9 the singer released two new singles: 40 Shades of Choke as well as Grampa. Then, in November 2013, she released No One, and Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby was released as her first single on February 26, 2019 for the album Creed II. Shea Butter Baby was featured alongside Cole on the Creed II sound track on November 16. The track was accompanied by the music video which debuted in February 20th, 2019, and it surpassed the milestone of 3 million views on YouTube in one week. As a supporting act She toured in concert with 6LACK in December of 2018 for their From East Atlanta With Love Tour.
